I've heard of people who get so wrapped up in a character that they forget they aren't real people. Susan May Warren is one author who has the great talent of making this happen. As I read of Max and what his future holds, I cried for a young man who has no control over what happens in his life. But as I continued to read, Susan did such an eloquent job of showing that it isn't the end results of the journey, but every step of the way to that end that make up the joys of life. I totally loved this story about Grace and her discovery of what she wants in life and how to get it. And the side story of Casper and Owen makes for an anxious wait for the next book to come out.

This book also contained the weddings of Grace's siblings Darek and Eden, two events that we've been waiting for.

I have been in love with the town of Deep Haven since Joe and Mona's story in Happily Ever After. I fell in love with it all over again in Darek and Ivy's story in Take a Chance on Me. The Christiansen family is the classic American family, they love God but they're not perfect.

When I Fall in Love is Grace and Max's story. She an aspiring chef, he a hockey star and closet chef on the side. She is full of self doubt and low self esteem, but loves to serve others and wants to start a catering business. He has confidence in his athletic abilities but believing the lie he has no future therefore no dreams, decides to help Grace attain hers. What unfolds between them on a three week cooking vacation in Hawaii is pure magic. I was completely entranced from beginning to end. Loved that we got to see both Darek and Eden's weddings in this book.

The back story between Raina and Casper is equally compelling and I'm hard pressed to pick which couple's story I enjoyed more. The last 75 pages had me on the edge of my seat and I stayed up late to finish it. Can't hardly wait for the next installment of the Christiansen family series and am already working out possible scenarios in my mind.

All in all, the Christiansen's stories are about the power of love and surrender, pain and forgiveness, His strength in our weakness.
Congratulations to Susan May Warren who just won a Christy Award for Take a Chance on Me, it is well deserved. She is the reigning queen of Contemporary Romantic fiction!
I finished this book with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. I adored all the characters and I frankly didn't want the story to end. This was a beautiful story about overcoming fears, letting go, trusting God, and learning to love.

I enjoyed every second of this book. I hated to put it down and I didn't want it to end. This is the third installment in the Christiansen series, and in it we come to know all the Christiansens a bit better, specifically Grace and Casper, the two middle siblings. While we only got a little taste of Casper's story, I was very intrigued. And I love Raina. Shout out to Liza from Happily Ever After! That was one of the first Susan May Warren books I ever read years and years ago and I absolutely LOVE seeing those characters popping up again. I'm glad they're all doing well. You absolutely don't have to have read the other books to understand this one, you'll just recognize some secondary characters names if you do and it's fun to see the way the town and the characters have grown and changed over the course of time, almost as if it's a real place. I adore Deep Haven and love to spend as much time there as possible.

Max and Grace's story was the main event in this novel. It was fun and flirty, it was uncertain and tense, it was sweet and romantic. They went through some tough stuff and they still have a rough road ahead of them, but they're going to be okay. They have each other and they have God and that's all they need. If you need a book that will make you laugh, make you cry, and restore your hope in faith and love, this is it. Amazing from start to finish. Oh and did I mention most of it takes place in Hawaii? Summer reading perfection.

Susan May Warren, I fell in love... all over again with your wonderful, rich, lively cast of characters & with this novel! It was beautiful, sweet, honest and so real I felt as if I was living in it! Your novels are absolutely wonderful & inspiring! And this is one of those novels you absolutely hate to set down & even when you do you can't stop thinking about it. I loved it!

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! Let me try to count the ways... Engaging, well fleshed out characters you love - check; a plot that keeps the pages turning - check; things that pull at your heart and that minister to you - check; truths to ponder and apply - check; I could go on and on and on... Agh, the wait for the next book is going to drive me crazy! Warren already laid the ground work in this novel and trust me, it hooks you!

I don't like to give too much of the story away... but I just want to say WOW, kudos to Warren for writing Max and Grace's story, it is different, touching and will give you some thing to think on. Be brave, live life fully! Sure, life can be messy and things don't always go the way we planned but there is something about being open and willing to risk, to put ourselves out there and try, that can birth some of the most beautiful and memorable times of our lives! Fall in love, first of all with Christ - Who is the One, the something more you are searching for. Be inspired by His love and let it flow through you and your life!

Again, an awesome novel!

***Update- So I could not get these characters out of my head! I was laying in bed thinking about them, their future and what could possibly happen in Book 4! And again thinking about them on and off today ... Like these are real people! Susan May Warren, waiting till Spring is going to be so hard! Looking forward to your novella, however this fall!
