This emotional book is amazing to help teach young children the idea of theories and how they change throughout a story.

Great for children and the adults reading to them. This story will likely grow in relevance as the baby boomers become seniors and families cope with aging grand parents. A truly heartwarming experience.
Every time I read this to my kids I teared up. Now I'm reading it to my grandkids. And, despite best efforts, still tearing up. Tomie dePaola is a national treasure.
I have read this book for years during my Pre-K family unit. I misplaced my book during a move and had to repurchase it this year. The loving relationship between the boy and his grandfather has always been special to me as I am a divorced parent of an autistic child whose grandparents made it possible for me to work to support my kids. It was even more moving to me this year as my kids recently lost the grandfather who had spent so much time caring for them. I always bawl like a baby when I read this to my class. That's okay - it's perfectly fine for our kids to see our emotions. This is just one in a long line of fabulous books by Tomie dePaola.
