Bring Me Their Hearts Sara Wolf Books

A heart-felt, sumptuous delicacy of mental gastronomy to be dined on again and again. Without question one to recommend to friends. (They will be better friends for it.) Technically well-written. Fantastic character development. Intriguing and creative story-line. Strong mise-en-scene descriptions. Laugh-out-loud main character quips and banter. Perhaps a bit too fast on the wrap up. Best cover jacket art I have seen this season. The first in a trilogy, I wait with impatient greed for volume 2. Congratulations Ms. Wolf - you have done it again! (And yes, I have written this review in a way that gives nothing away, so that the pleasure of your discovery is robust and unvarnished.)

Bring Me Their Hearts Sara Wolf Books Reviews

Such a fantastic start to what should be a very promising series!

Wolf has never failed to deliver me some complex and interesting characters. Zera and Lucien both stole my heart, for different reasons. Zera is quite self serving to start but as you read, you understand that it's not just her heart, her life, on the line and a very unselfish side of her appears. Lucien is nothing you'd expect a Prince to be.

Both Zera and Lucien want the world they live in to change but their paths of getting there do not coincide. The way their lives twist around each other gave me such anxiety, lol!

This story delivered adventure, turmoil, excitement, steamy forbidden attraction, intrigue, humor..I could go on and on but I'll just say this - I'm excited for more!
I read constantly, devouring novels like popcorn. So when I read a novel that twists and turns and wrings me out like a wet hankie, I need to cheer about it, tell everyone about the experience of reading it This novel deserves every one of the five stars I’ve given it, Bring Me Their Hearts is superbly written, rich, salty, satisfying, terrifying, and suspenseful. I’m so glad I read it. Can’t wait for the next book!
I think I'm going to be looking forward to more books from Sara Wolf.

I really liked the plot and the way the author portrayed some would be stereotypical bad guy roles with relatively kind characters (pretend aunt and the witch). Usually the captor is generally assumed to be a horrible soulless person, but Wolf gave a different, perhaps a bit more intriguing, spin on the captor situation. I actually really appreciated this and am interested in seeing and learning more about what drives these supporting characters.

I enjoyed the first 3/4 of the book immensely. The pacing was spot on, I became invested in the characters, and I was caught on the plot. It was this first part of the book that made me like this author and it's the reason I'm going to be on the lookout for more of her books.

*Spoilers Ahead*
The last 1/4 is a different story. The pacing, which was spot on in the first part, slammed to a screeching halt. I got whiplash it was so bad. Whereas the events from the first part seemed critical to the plot, well developed and solid, the ending to this book seemed, strangely enough, rushed but in a long and drawn out way. It felt as if the events weren't as well thought out and served more to fill the word count than the plot. Don't get me wrong, I can see how the last events served the plot, but it could have been achieved in a more concise way that enriched the plot instead of just sustaining it. In addition, I found that the book itself never seemed to reach any critical climax. The event promised in the synopsis, the taking of the prince's heart, was left to the final chapter only to be left on a cliff hanger. I love a juicy cliffhanger just as much as the next person, but only if I've felt the book has given me what it's promised. I don't feel like this book fulfilled that promise. None of my questions have been answered about witches, the princess, the white mercury, the below ground people, etc., yet I have even more questions after the cliff hanger. In order for a cliff hanger to be successful-- in order for it to flip my world upside down-- I first need to know what's going on in the world.

Overall, I enjoyed the series a lot. The protagonist was witty, fun, and interesting. Her strong personality and struggle to accept her self worth was endearing and relatable. Though the culture and world building of the story seemed a bit shallow, what was presented was intriguing and I hope to see more. Star wise, the first 3/4 was worth about 4.5 stars. The last 1/4 was worth more around 3 stars. In its entirety, I think I'd rate the book at about 3.9 stars, Just below a 4 due to the ending of the book and leaving the book unresolved.
Read in one sitting! Such a fantastic read. Action, adventure, medieval fantasy with romance and thrilling intrigue. The main heroine is fighting for her freedom and to receive it she must betray the young prince she is falling in love with. Slow building romance with clear defined characters, you truly feel for. The book world is laid out in an understandable and masterful way. The plot is similar to a mashup of Ella Enchanted and the Selection; this book will leave you panting in a desperate book high for the next one in this series. Sara Wolf is an excellent writer who always draws you in and leaves you craving more. Check out her other books as you wait for the next one in this series.
People who know me know it’s a hard sell for me to pick up a fantasy novel. Unfamiliar worlds laid out tend to bore me; magic and the like doesn’t entice me.

Folks, this book just punches all that in the face.

For as much as Bring Me Their Hearts is a fantasy novel, it’s also a character driven novel that is expertly shown, and not told. The world building was so natural that I felt like I could reach into the pages and live there. Not that I’d actually want to, considering the state of the world.

Let’s first talk about Zera, one of the most fascinating female characters I’ve read in a while. She’s 100% sass and 200% badass. Zera is fierce when it comes to protecting her heart – and I’ll leave it at that so you can see what I mean.

I loved that each of the side characters got their own backstory woven into the history of the world they live in. I can’t even decide who is my favorite (though it might be Malachite).

Also, THAT.ENDING. Winner takes their heart – Sara is just racking them up because we are all dead after reading this. Bring me book 2 to revive me!
