Tropes I dislike - 6 years go by before the H/h are reunited. Hate that! In the meantime, The heroine has to marry an old Baron (old enough to be her grandfather. She's pregnant by the hero, but he's repudiated her. He acts like a jerk & tells her it's someone else that she's slept with that got her pregnant. She also has a daughter by the old Baron.
What I like - The heroine is strong willed & not about to take any crap from the hero. He's seen the error of his ways, but the heroine makes him do lots of groveling before she'll take him back. That's a refreshing change.

This book is heavy on relationship drama & light on action. LM is such a good author that I think she pulls it off. There's characters from the other books that make an appearance.

Basically, I would recommend it as a continuation of the series. If you're new to the series, start at the beginning. This is not the best book in the series IMO.

Shona is escaping the horrors of England and heading back to her homeland of Scotland to seek protection for her and her children from an evil Baron. She never expected to run into the man who showed her how to love and then took it all away, changing her life forever. Caelis has never forgotten the woman he loved six years ago, his mate, but doesn't know where she is or if she even still lives... until she shows up at the keep. Six years ago he believed his laird that she was not his true mate and he pushed her away, but he won't let her go so easy this time.

I loved this book just as much as I loved the others! Shona and Caelis' story was real (well as real as shape-shifting Highlanders can get). Mistakes were made when they were younger and now Caelis wants to make it right and make up for what he has done, but is it too late? Shona has a lot of anger and sadness when it comes to Caelis and she has to decide if she will ever be able to let go of these feelings and be able to forgive Caelis so they can start again, but it is not an easy decision and she definitely does not make it in haste. Lots of old characters are brought back and you get their "after stories" as well. Lucy Monroe does an amazing job setting the stage for upcoming events that will effect all of the beloved characters and leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for the next book! If you have a love of fantasy and historical fiction (and delicious over-bearing Highlanders), you'll love Lucy's Children of the Moon series!
I loved this entire series!!! This book was no exception! I could not out it down, staying up all night to finish it. I adore Lucy Monroe's way to connect people with love, loyalty, protectiveness and passion! She manages to tie together peoples that were once enemy because of small mindedness.... As well as showing how all should be valued as equal despite their race, sex, belief, sexual orientation or nature! Well done
If you love Alpha males then this is for you. Lucy Monroe delivers. In the Highlands of Scotland is a Clan that has been in exsistence for thousands of years known as the Chrecthe. Shapeshifters. Proud lethal fighters who keep their exsistence a secret. This story is about one of them and the woman he betrayed. They can only have children with their destined mates.; Its is against pack law to turn away from your mate, betray your mate, abandon your mate without protection. His Alpha lied and told him she wasn't his mate when he knew in his heart she was. Then her and her family disappeared.

This is about a warrior that did and years later finds out that he left behind a son. In shock he realizes the mistakes he has made. Will he be able to make things right?

Whats great about this series is Ms. Monroe also lets you revisit your old friends from previous books. Its always a pleasure to catch up and see whats going on. Its a great series. I hate giving spoilers. Read the blurb it can tell you better then me. Check it out!!!!!

Shona, along with her son, daughter and friends Audrey and Thomas have been travelling for weeks and at the request/order of the Sinclair laird they have stopped at his home before continuing on to Balmoral.

Shona is shocked to see Caelis and when he realizes that her son is his child, she's even more surprised to see that he immediately claims her son Eadan and also her daughter! Shona doesn't know that Caelis is a shape-shifting wolf, the laird of the MacLeods lied to him and told him that she was not his mate. Caelis has realized by this time that he was lied to but he was also told that Shona was dead.

If you're just starting this series, start with the first book, the sub-story will be too confusing if you don't. I love this series and Lucy Monroe is great at anything she writes. Another perfect treat!
It was ok on the sexy scenes. Pg. the storyline was really good and the characters all aligned well. The h I was really enjoying but of course felt she gave in way too quick. They go in and on about years of abuse and then poof she forgives him. I also was really loving how she was human and they had to accept her liver her for that but of course they make it later she has ancestry and that bugged me as she wasn’t good enough just human. That was the point of the story. But overall it was good and I’d like to read some others but 7.99 for a kindle book bugs me
